Comienza diciembre y, con ello, la época de premiaciones y galardones a lo mejor de este año en la industria de los videojuegos. The Game Awards, evento organizado por Geoff Keighley fue un excelente motivo para reunir a grandes personalidades de la industria como Reggie Fils-Aime de Nintendo, Phil Spencer de Xbox y Shawn Layden de PlayStation.
Grandes sorpresas se dieron en este evento, como la ventaneada del anfitrión a Konami por prohibirle a Hideo Kojima asistir para recoger su premio, hubo uno que otro tropiezo pero en general se percibió una atmósfera mucho más positiva que la de la edición del año pasado. A lo largo de la ceremonia se revelaron los ganadores de las distintas categorías que conformaban este certamen.
